About AltaMed

AltaMed Health Services is a prominent nonprofit healthcare organization based in Southern California, with a commitment to providing comprehensive, culturally sensitive care to underserved populations. Founded in 1969, AltaMed was established with the goal of improving access to quality healthcare for individuals who traditionally faced barriers to care like low-income families, immigrants, and communities of color. AltaMed has grown significantly since its inception, becoming one of the largest providers of health services to Latino, African American, Asian, and other underserved communities in the region.

As of 2025, AltaMed operates a network of more than 60 health centers throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, serving more than 700,000 patients annually. The organization has become an integral part of the region's healthcare infrastructure, offering a range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of the community. Its focus on community-based care and preventive health has earned AltaMed a reputation as a leading healthcare provider for those who are uninsured or underinsured. As the Impact Report will demonstrate, serving these populations has a disproportionate impact on the region’s economy.
